Frequently Asked

Privacy & Security

What does MulaMail encrypt?

MulaMail encrypts the subject line, the body of the email, and the attachments. However, the only non-encrypted email is the first whitelist request that is sent to the recipient in order to gather the necessary technical information to establish secure communication.

How secure is MulaMail?

Mula uses blockchain technology. Blockchain technology is encrypted so it can’t be hacked. For example, the word carrot when encrypted, would look like this: EnCt2d14c0b9204aa00a69

Does Mula keep a record of my activity?

Mula keeps a record of transactions in order to improve the customer experience, this means the sending and receiving of email. We do not have access to the contents of your email.

Sending & Receiving

How do I use MulaMail?

You use MulaMail just like any other email service. If we’ve done our job right, you won’t even notice a difference.

Are non-MulaMail messages encrypted?

We can only encrypt messages sent and received on MulaMail, so non-MulaMail messages are not encrypted. Once your email is on a regular email server, it’s subject to many of the vulnerabilities of that email server. It’s for this reason that we suggest that both parties use MulaMail. The Mula team is working hard to create plugins for most of the popular email programs.

What happens to all my emails/files if I delete them?

We understand that not every email is worth saving. Deleted emails and files are removed from your email account, but without the encryption key, remain in the blockchain as inaccessible, unrecoverable, anonymized data. Essentially, they’re like that itch in the middle of your back - there but unreachable.

How does the whitelist work?

MulaMail uses a whitelisting approach. It’s a bit like a private club, if you’re not on the list, you don’t get in. Before you can start communicating with someone, they’ll need to send you a request (don’t worry, we supply one they can just click and send), and you’ll need to accept it. After that, you can communicate as usual. The bad news is that emails from princes offering you their life fortune will be blocked unless you accept their request.

Login & Signup

How much does MulaMail cost?

MulaMail has both a freemium and a premium model. The freemium model is free! The premium model price varies by jurisdiction.

Do I need to register for a new username for each Mula product that is released?

No. The unique username that you pick for your MulaMail account will be the same username that you use across the entire spectrum of Mula products, so choose wisely!

How do I import contacts?

If you’re using the plugin, you don’t need to do anything. If you’re using the application, simply export your contacts in CSV form then import them into MulaMail.

How do I log out?

Logging out is as simple as clicking the logout button. For maximum privacy, we do not recommend that you use Mula on public or friends’ devices, but if you do, ensure to click logout after each session.

Is there an age requirement?

There is no age limit for MulaMail, but minors should get their parents’ permission when opening a Mula account.

What are the rewards?

Rewards are based on your user level and user activity. The first 1000 Beta Testers receive a free premium account for life. The next, 9000 Beta Testers receive a free premium account for one year. Inside the MulaMarketplace, users have the chance to gain MulaNotes, which can be redeemed against ethical marketing campaigns. These are just the rewards we can tell you about at the moment. Keep an eye on this spot or your MulaMail for more announcements.

How do I change my username?

Mula usernames are changeable via your profile. Simply change your username in your profile and click save.

Can I delete my account?

Simply go to settings and click delete account. Deleting your account will remove your ability to access any of the Mula modules unless you sign up for a new account.

How do I manage notifications?

No one likes spam unless it’s fried and in a sandwich. Mula communicates with its users sparingly. If we have something vitally important to tell you, we’ll send you an email. We will also be regularly updating our substack newsletter. If you want to hear from us more often, you can follow us on Twitter. If you really want to hear from us more often, send us a love letter.

How do I reset my password?

When you register, you will receive your password and a recovery passphrase. Do not lose these. Seriously. Don’t. Print them out, put them in a safe place. You will need the recovery passphrase to begin the arduous process of recovering your password. If it were simple, it wouldn’t be secure.
